Database Spotlight: Credo Reference

Credo Reference provides access to hundreds of reference works, including encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri, and image collections over a broad range of subjects. A user can enter their search terms immediately, or browse the collection by clicking “Find a Book” in the upper left and then browsing by subject, title, Dewey classification, and more.

Sign-in to the databases and choose Credo Reference, near the bottom.

While there is an extensive arrangement of titles for each subject area, here are some of the titles seen when “Find a Book” is used:

Business Examples: Encyclopedia of the American History of Management, Guide to Economic Indicators, Wall Street Words

Literature: Dictionary of Shakespeare, Encyclopedia of Medieval Literature, Holocaust Literature: An Encyclopedia of Writers and their Work

Biographies: Debrett’s People of Today 2009, The Penguin Biographical Dictionary of Women, Great Military Lives: Leadership and Courage

History: Encyclopedia of African History, Conspiracies Theories in American History, World Politics Since 1945

Language: Dictionary of Contemporary Slang, How We Talk: American Regionalism Today, Word Histories and Mysteries

Psychology: Biographical Dictionary of Psychology, Key Thinkers in Psychology, Encyclopedia of Women and Gender: Sex Similarities and Differences and the Impact of Society on Gender

Science: Science in the Ancient World, Science in the Enlightenment, Collins Dictionary of Biology, Animals and Science: A Guide to the Debates

Access to Credo Reference is available to all current Dominican College students, faculty, and staff. Sign-in to the databases and choose Credo Reference, near the bottom.
