Library of Congress archiving every public tweet

The Library of Congress announced today that it would be archiving every public tweet ever recorded. That is every public tweet since Twitter started in March 2006. The total number of tweets is said to be somewhere in the billions, with 50 million added daily. In other Twitter news, the company now claims it has 105 million registered accounts.
