The Sullivan Library has a new addition to its portal page — a subject guide for those currently working in the mathematics field here at Dominican College. The mathematics subject guide can be found here.
This guide includes a listing of the databases that will be most useful for your work, including EBSCOhost’s Academic Search Elite, as well as the ProQuest databases. There are also countless open access journals (free to use and read) which have been linked to, including Mathematics Education Research Journal, Journal of Probability and Statistics, International Journal of Differential Equations, and Discrete Mathematics & Theoretical Computer Science.
You also have the option of looking at two electronic book databases, Ebrary and NetLibrary, when you require books for your research but are unavailable to come into the library itself. Further, there is a list of Government sources such as The University of Michigan Historical Mathematics Collection and ArXiv, a website from Cornell University with thousands of e-print titles in the Sciences.
Finally, there is a listing of reference books which are held within The Sullivan Library and always available to look at. They include titles such as The Universal Book of Mathematics and Mathematics of Egypt, Mesopotamia, China, India and Islam.
