April is National Poetry Month!
The earth is waking up from its long sleep, the buds on the trees perfume the air, and water gushes from our eyes like faucets. (Allergies can be poetic, too.)
Celebrate national poetry month by reading some poetry, attending a reading, going to slam, sign up for a workshop and maybe even write some of YOUR OWN work.
Sign up to receive a poem a day!:http://www.poets.org/poemADay.php
You’ll get a poem in your email every morning. You can’t have a bad day if you wake up to poetry. It’s just not possible.
Attend a reading or slam! Check out some of the events via the links below. (Bear in mind, in some places, you’ll need to be 21+, in others, there may be a nominal cover or membership fee, so take note!)
Here are some upcoming events sponsored by the Hudson Valley Writers Center:

As a practicing poet, I tend to think we should celebrate poetry every day, but in April, we should really rock this poet party. Get on it!
