Chat with a librarian 24/7!

24-7 chat (2)

Working late into the night and stumble upon a research question that cannot wait until the morning?  Need some help from a librarian ASAP but are located off campus?  You are in luck because chat reference is always open at the Sullivan Library!  Chat online in real time with a librarian 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!   No account is required and the chat is anonymous.

To use chat reference from our homepage, scroll below the Dominican Discovery search box and click on the blue “Chat Now” icon.

A pop up window will appear.  Type your reference or research question into the box and hit enter to send.  A librarian will respond to your question within seconds!

Ask away!

If you had a great chat and want to save the transcript, click the envelop icon within the chat box to email yourself a copy.

In addition to having chat available on the library homepage, it is also available on our Ask-A-Librarian page and on our EBSCO databases.

While chat is convenient, there are other avenues to explore when looking for library information.  You can always see if your question can be answered by:

  • Searching our FAQs to find the answers to frequently asked questions about the Sullivan Library services and resources, research help, and more.
  • Using a Research Guide to find books and ebooks, databases and journals, websites, research tips, and more resources to help you do research on a specific subject or for a specific course.
  • And of course you can always schedule a research appointment with a librarian.  Or simply stop by the library and ask for help!

Like chat reference?  Have questions or suggestions?  Let us know!  Email us at Sullivan.library@dc.edu or give us a call at 845-848-7505.
